2026–2027 Student Assessments
Information for Parents and Caregivers
Hackensack Public Schools administers a variety of state, federal, and district assessments throughout the school year. These assessments provide valuable information about student learning, academic progress, and areas where additional support or enrichment may be beneficial.
In accordance with New Jersey requirements, the district provides families with an annual assessment schedule identifying the assessments students may participate in during the 2026–2027 school year.
What information is included?
The district assessment schedule provides families with information about:
- Assessment name and subject area
- Grade levels participating
- Testing dates and testing windows
- Approximate testing time
- Available accommodations and accessibility features
- Whether an assessment is required by the state, federal government, or district
- Links to sample questions and preparation materials, when available
- When families can expect student results
Assessments During the 2026–2027 School Year
Depending on a student's grade level, course enrollment, and individual program, assessments administered during the school year may include:
NJSLA-A for English Language Arts and Mathematics, NJSLA-S for Science, NJGPA-A, and the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) assessment.
WIDA ACCESS and WIDA Alternate ACCESS are administered to eligible multilingual learners in grades K–12.
mCLASS Reading and Mathematics assessments are administered in grades K–8 during designated assessment windows throughout the school year.
High school students may participate in assessments such as the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and Advanced Placement (AP) examinations.
Other assessments include the Naglieri General Ability Tests for gifted and talented screening and assessments associated with the New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy.
Accommodations & Accessibility
Students whose IEP or Section 504 Plan provides for extended time or other testing accommodations will receive those accommodations as appropriate. Accommodations and accessibility options are also available for multilingual learners in accordance with New Jersey Department of Education guidelines. Families with questions about individual accommodations should contact their child's case manager or school.
